Dear Chamber/Kiwanis Supporter:
I’d like to thank you for taking the time to read this and for your interest in Southeast Dallas. While we continue to recover from the pandemic and fight through current struggles, the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove (our producing partners) continue to lead the community in support of nonprofit organizations/efforts that make a difference in the lives of those that live, work, play, pray and go to school in Southeast Dallas. We are so grateful to Dal-Tile, a division of Mohawk Industries, Inc, for their longtime leadership in Southeast Dallas and their sacrificial support this year, again, as our title sponsor.
Our mission is to support/invest in our youth:
• Jerry’s Dream Camp Kiwanis is a Kiwanis Club of Pleasant Grove effort celebrating 30 years of annually sending up to 80 disadvantaged children to summer camp at no cost to their families. Approximately 1,325 children have attended camp at Hidden Acres over the years. A transformative experience for many!
• Since 1998, the Southeast Dallas Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund has been presenting scholarships to graduating seniors from high schools located within zip codes 75180, 75210, 75217 and 75227. Student recipients were included from Texans Can Academy, Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, WW Samuell, H Grady Spruce, Skyline, A Plus Academy and Inspired Vision Academy high schools. Now up to 269 students and approximately $191,000 in scholarships to date! We lift up our own!
• In addition, SEDCC recognizes an outstanding educator and principal of the year whose efforts and examples have inspired their students. And to support those in need:
• The Pleasant Grove Food Pantry, a Partner Agency of North Texas Food Bank, passionately pursues a hunger-free community in Pleasant Grove and surrounding areas. It is a critical resource for meeting the needs of many unemployed/underemployed neighbors. PGFP focuses on nutrition, providing enough food for several days of well-balanced meals each week. In 2022 the poverty rate more than doubled and continues to rise. That means more families than ever are seeking food assistance.
Please be a sponsor or make a donation to make this year’s Golf Classic a success! Feel free to contact our Chamber office at (214) 398-9590 or [email protected] or you may contact me directly at (214) 275-1205 or [email protected]. Thank you for being an advocate for the families of Southeast Dallas. We are hopeful for a brighter future.
Warm regards,
Lance Prothro
